JULY'S FULL MOON COMING THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND — AND IT'S A SUPERMOON

July's full moon coming this holiday weekend — and it's a supermoon It's summer, so the warm nights make for great skywatching. And over the next few nights, there's a special treat: A supermoon is coming for the 2023 4th of July holiday weekend. July’s full moon, also called the buck moon, will be biggest on the nights of Sunday July 2 and Monday July 3. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the moon will hit its peak illumination at 7:39 a.m. on Monday July 3. It will be below the horizon at that precise moment, the Almanac said, so plan to look towards the southeast after sunset to watch it rise up into the evening sky. Taking place right around the holiday, the full moon will light up the night sky along with the countless fireworks displays that are expected to occur. A sailboat passes by a full supermoon, called the Buck Moon, as it rises over Lake Michigan in Milwaukee on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. What is a supermoon? When are the supermoons in 2023? When the mo...
FOURTH OF JULY SAFETY'S FOR PETS: KEEP YOUR ANIMAL SAFE DURING JULY 4 FESTIVITIES: Fireworks are a manmade spectacle we enjoy around summertime holidays, but they aren’t so pleasant for some. Fourth of July fireworks may be a traumatic experience for veterans or those who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. It’s also a harrowing experience for dogs and cats – nearly one in five lost pets goes missing after being scared by a loud noise, like fireworks or thunderstorms, a survey from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals found. This Independence Day, here’s what to know about keeping your furry friends safe.  Why are dogs scared of fireworks? Dogs have heightened senses – they can hear at higher frequencies and up to four times as far as humans can and their sense of smell can be 10,000 times more powerful. But unlike humans, dogs are unable to tell where a sound is coming from.  We also can’t give our pets a heads-up that fireworks are happe...

ELON MUSK IMPOSES DAILY LIMITS ON READING POSTS ON TWITTER     Twitter owner Elon Musk has limited the amount of tweets most users can view each day — restrictions he described as an attempt to prevent unauthorised scraping of potentially valuable data from the social media platform.     The site is now requiring people to log on to view tweets and profiles — a change in its longtime practice to allow everyone to peruse the chatter on what Musk has frequently touted as the world's digital town square since buying it for $44 billion last year.    The restrictions could result in users being locked out of Twitter for the day after scrolling through several hundred tweets. Thousands of users complained over the weekend of not being able to access the site.            In a Friday tweet, Musk described the new restrictions as a temporary measure that was taken because "we were getting data pillaged so much that it was degrading serv...
